About this activity
CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements that reflect aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. High intensity workouts and constantly varying programming are also a key principle of workouts.
Origins & history
CrossFit began in 1996, with the first gyms located in Santa Cruz California. The training method quickly grew in popularity, especially among emergency service workers such as police and firefighters. Shortly after its creation, CrossFit was introduced in Canada. The first CrossFit gym in Canada opened in Vancouver in 2005.
