Vietnamese drum and dance is a traditional dance accompanied by cylindrical drums and other musical instruments. Participants each wear a drum around their neck, which allows them to perform twirls and wave colourful scarves while also pounding on the drum. Vietnamese drum and dance is performed in a group, and there is typically a great deal of interaction among dancers, who act out conversations and occasionally hold hands during the performance. Dancers spend a great deal of rehearsal time preparing for performances. Participants typically wear traditional clothing during performances.
