Bhakti yoga is an exercise system and form of yoga that is focused on achieving spiritual enlightenment. This form of yoga is considered by practitioners to be one of four paths that can be taken to achieve enlightenment, or spiritual awakening. Bhakti yoga is made up of nine elements, and participants may perform any or all of these elements to move towards the ultimate goal of achieving spiritual awakening. Bhakti yoga can be practiced on its own or in combination with other forms of yoga. Like other forms of yoga that have grown in global popularity, it has become increasingly available as a commercialized form of exercise and now carries diverse meanings, both spiritual and secular, in various communities.
