Mother and Baby Yoga

Mother and baby yoga is an exercise system focused on yoga practice for new mothers who are accompanied by their babies. This style of yoga combines yoga techniques and exercises with bonding activities between mothers and their babies, sometimes even including the baby as part of the pose or exercise. This style of yoga places a high emphases on sound, movement, touch, and social aspects. The movements are gentle, as they are designed to be inclusive of women at various levels of postnatal fitness or with limited yoga experience. Mother and baby yoga classes are often designed to facilitate social networks between new mothers. Although geared toward mothers, this style of yoga usually welcomes other caregivers, including fathers, grandparents, or nannies. Like other forms of yoga that have grown in global popularity, it has become increasingly available as a commercialized form of exercise.
